90% Silver, often referred to as "junk silver," refers to any United States coinage struck before 1964 in dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars. It is comprised of 90% silver and 10% copper, to give it durability. While the silver dollars from pre-1964 trade at significant premiums over their metal content, the dimes through halves can be acquired for closer to their silver content, making them a popular option for investment in silver.
